History
Koh Samui has been inhabited by humans since 15 centuries ago, most of the residents work as fishermen. Until the end of the 20th century, Koh Samui was practically isolated from the outside world because it rarely communicated with the main regions of Thailand.
Until the 1970s, Koh Samui had no roads, so if you want to move around the island, you have to pass through the hilly forest in the middle of the island and take a very long time.
