Journey to Prague

Prague, the capital of Czech Republic in addition to its largest metropolis is considered one of Europe’s most lovely cities. Its historic city center was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992 and for over 1,000 years this riverside city has been the cultural and economic capital of the Czech Republic. Many of the most popular sights and points of interest are located in downtown Prague.
A very attention-grabbing place to see is Wenceslas Square in Prague’s New Town, founded in 1348 by King Charles IV. It is a part of Prague’s historical city heart. This culturally wealthy sight is a popular setting for celebrations, festivals and demonstrations. One of probably the most dramatic protests in historical past was held right here in 1969, when 20 year old faculty pupil Jan Palach dedicated suicide by self-immolation as a political protest in opposition to the invasion of the Soviet Union into Czechoslovakia. A memorial to Palach lies in front of the National Museum on the prime of Wenceslas Square.
One of the most visited and photographed places in Prague is the “Dancing House” (initially named ‘Fred and Ginger’ as it favors two dancers), which has also been dubbed “drunk home” by locals. It is a reasonably new arrival to the downtown Prague, constructing was complete in 1996. Although the shape and appearance caused fairly a stir, in 2005 the Czech National Bank issued a gold coin with an image of the house stamped on it. The coin was the final one in a series of coins minted referred to as “10 Centuries of Architecture”.
And after all, no journey to Prague could be complete with out visiting the Castle! According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the Prague Castle is the biggest ancient citadel on the planet. From the museums and galleries to the towers and cathedrals, the buildings of the fort show almost each type of architecture launched within the last one thousand years. It is really one of the most beautiful sights in all of Europe.
If you’ve by no means been, now may be a great time to think about a trip to Prague. This breathtaking and magnificent city will astound you all through your entire trip.
