This is How California Gets into the Holiday Spirit

There is a Christmas season tradition on the West Coast that I’m sure you’re not familiar with. It’s called Christmas on the West Coast and it’s pretty cool.

Christmas on the West Coast is a holiday tradition that is celebrated in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Seattle. If you’re looking to move to one of these cities and currently searching for  Los Angeles homes for sale, don’t worry you won’t be missing out on any holidays, especially Christmas.

The three cities have different ways of celebrating this holiday, but they all share one thing in common – there are tons of yuletide-themed events happening all over their neighborhoods.

If you’ve never seen the lights of Christmas on the West Coast, you’re missing out!

Sure you’ll have tree lightings, some ice skating, and other traditional stuff, but let’s take a look at some of the special things they include in their celebration.

The Parades are Awesome!

The California Christmas Parade is a big event that happens every year in Los Angeles, California. It’s one of the most popular parades in the country.

In fact, some say it’s the most popular parade in the world! It’s an annual tradition started by a small group of friends who wanted to put on a parade as an alternative to a Christmas party they were planning.

The parade is filled with everything from floats and marching bands to drill teams and dancers. There are also plenty of Santa Clauses and even my own personal favorite, reindeer!

Different Stocking Stuffers

We all know that about a week before Christmas, the West coast of the United States is flooded with oranges. Tangerines are a popular fruit item in these parts of America during the Christmas season.

On Christmas Eve, many people in California stock their stockings with tangerine slices. The popular fruit has been around since the 1800s.

Tangerines were once considered a luxury fruit because they were so expensive to import from China. In the 1800s, wealthy Californians began using them as gifts for guests coming over for Christmas Eve dinner. They would mince the tangerines and add them into brandy or wine to make a festive treat for their guests.

It’s a tradition that hasn’t fully died off.

Tamales on Christmas Eve

Christmas is a time for giving and the West coast of California does it better than most. From the work in progress, to the changing of the guard, to their signature ingredients – there’s something special about this holiday.

In California they serve tamales on Christmas Eve. And what’s more is that they do it while wearing reindeer antlers!

If you love Mexican food and Tamales, then you need to make a trip out to Sacramento or another town on Christmas Eve.

Disneyland

Disneyland is a magical place to visit all year round, but it is especially magical during the holidays. There are beautiful decorations up around the park, lots of festive music, and a magical feeling that takes over.

Disneyland at Christmas time has been dazzling visitors for many years. With a lot of children and families visiting the park, it’s no surprise that Disneyland is so well-known for its December festivities. The iconic lights display and music make this experience truly unforgettable. So if you have some extra time during your trip to Disney World, you should definitely give Disneyland a try!
